DIRECT HIRE - Plant Manager- Dairy
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced
Plant Manager
to lead operations at our high-volume ice cream manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant performance, including production, safety, quality, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in food manufacturing, particularly frozen dessert production, and possess hands-on experience managing ammonia refrigeration systems.
This is a
single incumbent leadership role
with responsibility for either multiple facilities or a large, complex plant. You will lead through a team of managers and supervisors, driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Direct all plant functions including production, processing, packaging, quality assurance, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, and environmental compliance.
Strategic Planning & Execution: Set production priorities to meet cost, quality, and safety goals. Optimize workforce and equipment utilization to achieve maximum efficiency.
Performance Management: Develop and monitor KPIs across safety, quality, productivity, and financial metrics. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a CI culture.
Budget & Financial Oversight: Manage plant P&L, develop annual operating and capital budgets, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to FDA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards. Lead corporate, customer, and government audits. Maintain safe working conditions and GMP compliance.
Talent Development: Recruit, train, and mentor plant leadership. Promote career development and succession planning. Conduct performance evaluations and manage compensation decisions.
Customer Engagement: Collaborate with customers to meet service, quality, and operational expectations.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Business, or related field .
Experience:
Minimum 8 years in manufacturing, preferably in food/beverage or frozen dessert production.
At least 2 years in a senior management role.
Proven success in improving safety, quality, service, and cost metrics.
Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is
required .
Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership and coaching capabilities.
Deep understanding of manufacturing process flows and CI methodologies.
Proficient in budgeting, cost control, and statistical analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage change and solve complex problems independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
