Description Leidos is seeking a

Power Distribution Designer

to join our expanding Power Distribution Engineering team. Location : The ideal candidate will be within a commutable distance to West Virginia (near Charleston WV area). This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel required to West Virginia, Virginia, and nearby regions. Invest in Your Career! We are looking for candidates eager to develop construction work packages for electric distribution systems utilizing various software and construction standards across overhead (OH), underground (UG), or underground residential distribution (URD) environments. Key Responsibilities: Design and create construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems (operating from 4kV to 138kV). Ensure compliance with quality control measures and safe work practices, while adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget. Participate in projects involving reliability program work, line relocation, and other system improvement initiatives. Utilize Distribution Design Studio (DDS), Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems for work package development. Conduct engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand analysis, fault currents, and protective device coordination. Conduct field surveys, prepare forestry trimming requests, facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, develop Bill of Materials (BOM), estimate costs, and engage in customer advocacy such as acquiring easements or calculating Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC). Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree with 1+ year of experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman) and SAP. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in distribution design projects involving line reconductors/relocations, voltage conversions, and distribution automation. Proficiency in DDS, ESRI, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is advantageous. Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
