The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using imaging technology. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, operating imaging modalities, and supporting a fast-paced interventional lab environment while maintaining patient safety and high standards of care. Essential Work Functions
Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety Operate imaging equipment (fluoroscopy, CT, ultrasound) to guide procedures Scrub in for sterile procedures, pass instruments, and maintain a sterile field Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions Ensure radiation safety for patients, staff, and self Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment to ensure readiness Manage and restock procedural supplies (catheters, guidewires, contrast agents) Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and team members to provide patient care Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures Perform other duties to support IR lab operations
Required Qualifications
One years recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist Valid ARRT, or RCIS/RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC) Valid Radiologic Technologist license in state regulations PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
