Michigan Housing is an actively engaged unit within Student Life Auxiliary Services within the Division of Student Life. Michigan Housing serves approximately 11,500 students: 9,100 undergraduate and 2,300 graduate and professional students and their families. The CCM position provides leadership at two or more Community Centers at residence halls and apartment communities. This role will support front desk operations, supervise hourly student desk workers, administer financial functions, manage room reservations and audit secure access activities. The CCM supervises the hourly student employees at the CC, manages day to day operations, and collaborates with building staff to deliver an excellent residential experience for all residents, in alignment with inclusive excellence. Responsibilities
60% Administration:
Manage the Community Center (CC) operations, including budget reconciliation and student billing via M-Pathways, room/building access, security practices for an electronic access system for over 1000 student rooms, and mail/package distribution procedures. Lead move-in/move-out processes, participate in building and department meetings and working groups. Collaborate in managing a student residence housing over 1000 residents, coordinating with facilities, dining services, security, and other building staff; conduct regular staff meetings with involved teams. 10% Communication:
Manage communications related to housing procedures, room changes, sign-up processes, postings, room reservations, and coordinate services to enhance the student experience; develop liaison relationships with other units across Student Life; handle confidential communications as needed. 30% Supervision:
Select, train, supervise, and assign work for student desk workers; establish ongoing training focused on development, service quality, and crisis response; plan and facilitate staff meetings. Reports to an Assistant Director. Required Qualifications
Associates Degree or High School Diploma/GED and four years of work experience. Minimum 1 year administrative experience. Desired Qualifications
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, with diverse student and staff populations. Experience facilitating community building in a multicultural, student learner-centered environment. Experience working with a diverse undergraduate student population. Commitment to social justice; ability to multitask; ability to be a consensus builder and make timely decisions. Working Conditions
On-site work at multiple University of Michigan Ann Arbor campuses. Some nights and weekends may be required. Physical Requirements
May need to move packages up to fifty pounds to various areas including mailrooms and shelving units. Direct Reports
Directly supervises up to 25 student staff; collaborates on supervision of up to 90 student staff overall. Additional Information
Role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery. Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no visa sponsorship. Salary may vary based on qualifications, experience, and education.
