Overview
DATA ENGINEER II - ENTERPRISE ANALYTICS at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. The primary responsibility is designing, developing, and deploying data-driven solutions as part of the Enterprise Analytics data strategy and goals. Responsible for creating reliable ETLs and scalable data pipelines to support Analytics and BI environment (including modeling and machine learning, visualizations, reports, forecasts, etc.). Participates in the development of robust data models by interpreting business logic required to turn complex ideas into sustainable value-add processes. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resorts policies, practices, and procedures. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with Enterprise Analytics BI Analysts, Data Scientists, and other business stakeholders to understand business problems and data requirements to build data structures ingested by analytics products (e.g., reports, dashboards) and complex algorithms that provide unique insights. Build data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate data from disparate sources. Develop robust data models, including dimensional models, usable for business questions and to assist Data Scientists in predictive model building. Develop logic for KPIs as requested by the business leadership. Troubleshoot existing and create new ETLs and pipelines, SSIS packages, DAGs, Python/BigQuery/SQL stored procedures and jobs. Write efficient and optimized SQL code for use in data pipelines and data processing. Drive data quality processes such as data profiling and data cleansing. Develop best practices to support continuous automation of data ingestion and pipelines. Apply innovative problem solving and critical thinking to troubleshoot data obstacles. Test, optimize, troubleshoot, and fine-tune queries for efficiency and accuracy.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Perform QA and UAT processes to foster an agile development cycle. Participate in design, code, QA and UAT artifact reviews; provide constructive feedback. Create documentation on table design and data marts to facilitate data adoption with minimal guidance. Identify opportunities for improvement in owned work and other areas of the department. Safety and consistent attendance are essential functions of this job. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
21 years of age; proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States. Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, analytics, or related field required; Masters degree preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other required certification or license. 3+ years of experience in building data pipelines and ETL processes. 3+ years of experience with advanced SQL, data mining, and working with traditional relational databases and/or distributed systems (e.g., Hadoop, BigQuery). 1+ years of experience with programming/scripting languages such as Python.
Additional Qualifications
Hands-on experience using Git and a CI/CD development environment preferred. Strong understanding of data types, data structures, and database systems. Experience in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Databricks or similar cloud-based environments. Ability to perform root cause analysis on processes and data to identify improvements. Strong understanding of data modeling, including Dimensional modelling and Data Normalization. Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
Lift or carry up to 10 pounds; ability to access all areas of the property. Maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines. Interact effectively with guests, management, team members, and external contacts. Prolonged walking, standing, bending, and kneeling; work in a fast-paced environment. Work indoors with exposure to environmental factors such as noise and dust.
