Overview
The Echocardiography Technician has intimate knowledge of thoracic anatomy and physiology related to cardiovascular function. They identify and record anomalies indicative of disease, injury or other medically significant conditions from ultrasound imaging and simultaneous recordings of the Doppler. The technician adheres to departmental, service, hospital, agency, and national regulations and policies and performs duties aligned with VA EKHCS mission, vision, and values. Responsibilities
Organize and manage time effectively; exercise independent judgment; assume responsibility for own work/actions; work under stressful conditions when needed; maintain focus; prioritize and transition between tasks quickly. Demonstrate ethical judgment, integrity, honesty, dependability, accountability; work reliably and independently. Perform echocardiography procedures including transthoracic, bubble studies and contrast echocardiography as appropriate; document procedures accurately in CPRS and manage related medical records. Produce diagnostic quality images and Doppler recordings using M-mode, 2D, 3D/4D, and color flow Doppler imaging; assess cardiac function and identify abnormalities. Perform comprehensive cardiac studies including four-chamber analysis, valve assessment, chamber size, pericardial effusion, and calculation of pressure gradients; apply advanced techniques as required (strain, invasive procedures where applicable). Operate and troubleshoot echocardiography equipment and software; maintain familiarity with listed systems and ensure image management using ISCV Intellispace Cardiovascular; merge images to CD as needed. Maintain documentation, charging accuracy, HIPAA and information security training; ensure proper medical terminology and charting practices; manage patient imaging records. Adhere to safety, privacy, and security standards and participate in ongoing professional development and training. Knowledge and Procedures
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart and great vessels; ECG interpretation; recognition of cardiac arrhythmias; hemodynamics of the cardiac cycle; basic ultrasound physics; and a range of cardiac pathologies including valvular dysfunction and myocardial conditions. Proficiency in echocardiography procedures including M-mode, 2D, 3D/4D imaging, Doppler spectral display, and color Doppler imaging. Ability to perform complex studies of the heart and related cardiovascular assessments; perform complementary noninvasive and invasive studies as required. Equipment and Systems

Tuesday - Friday 0700-1730, Part Time 2 days a week. Benefits and Leave
