Our client, a leading technology firm, is seeking a
Senior OpenShift Admin Engineer
to join their platform engineering team. The role supports critical production environments. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset. Location : NYC, Boston, Chicago, Jersey City, Pennington, Addison, Plano, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Atlanta, Richmond, Kennesaw, CLT, Newark, Jacksonville, Chandler Responsibilities
Administer and support OpenShift clusters running on RHEL6/7 and SLES11+, including virtualized environments (ESX, bare metal HP ProLiant). Install, configure, patch, and upgrade OpenShift components. Integrate OpenShift with existing enterprise systems including SAN storage, NetApp filers, and Cisco networks. Monitor cluster health and performance; troubleshoot OS-level issues impacting container workloads. Automate node configuration and lifecycle management using Puppet, BladeLogic, and Shell scripting. Manage container image repositories and automate deployments using CI/CD tools. Integrate OpenShift with enterprise monitoring tools like Splunk, Wireshark, and ESM. Mentor and guide the team; act as a senior contributor and leader on platform engineering initiatives. Qualifications / Requirements
Senior level
(10+ years of experience) with a self-starter/leadership mindset; able to guide the team with minimal supervision. Enterprise-level work experience in a big company environment; avoid frequent short-term contracts. Deep experience with Linux system administration. OpenShift experience in production environments. Experience supporting OpenShift nodes running on IBM Power servers and AIX OS. Troubleshooting expertise for OS-level issues affecting container workloads. Experience with automation tooling: Puppet, BladeLogic, Shell scripting. Experience managing container image repositories and deploying via CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with integrating OpenShift with enterprise monitoring tools (Splunk, Wireshark, ESM). Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana (or enterprise equivalents). Employment type
