Job Description Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Explain procedures to patients, position and immobilize patients on the exam table, and observe during scans under the direction of a physician. Monitor the video display of the area being scanned and adjust density or contrast to improve image quality. Review and evaluate computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Comply with government regulations to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Job Responsibilities Under the direction of a radiologist, perform MRI and MRA procedures, producing high-quality images with minimal stress and exposure to patients by dealing tactfully and cooperatively with patients and the public. Provide information and explanations regarding examinations. Check patient identification and screening forms to ensure proper administration of MRI & MRA procedures. Properly position the patient on the table as required for the exam. Operate the MRI unit in accordance with protocols. Assist in the orientation and training of new technologists. Follow departmental protocols to produce appropriate studies. Perform related duties as required. *ADA Essential Functions Job Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a two-year program at an American Medical Association-approved School of Radiologic Technology required. Licensed by the State of New York Department of Health required. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred. Minimum of two years MRI experience in a hospital setting utilizing high-field-strength magnets required. Experience with PACS, RIS, and computer-controlled equipment such as MR scanners required.
