YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL - LEADERSHIP & SERVICE (Gregory Drive)
Position Type: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $15.00
This position aims to help youth become responsible, caring citizens and develop skills for democratic participation. Program participants also enhance leadership abilities, planning, decision-making, community contribution, and celebrate our national heritage.
The Character and Leadership YDP is part of a team-oriented Club staff dedicated to serving youth and creating an engaging Club Experience. The role involves planning, supervising, and implementing various high-yield activities and targeted programs focused on health and life skills.
This position is responsible for:
Incorporating youth development principles into art programs and activities
Providing guidance and discipline to maintain a safe, positive environment
Implementing character development, age-appropriate, gender-specific, and culturally diverse programs
Assisting in planning, implementing, and delivering activities for youth ages 6 to 18
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
Planning and implementing Character and Leadership programs such as Keystone Clubs, Youth of the Year, Million Members Million Hours of Service, & Torch Club
Recruiting and retaining youth for these programs
Collaborating with staff to execute programs throughout the school year
Maintaining a Student Advisory Committee
Completing yearly service-learning projects
This role helps members make informed choices about education, careers, social, physical, and emotional needs, aligning with their health and future goals. It involves assessing youth developmental needs to develop targeted, outcome-driven programs.
Ensuring programs and activities promote safety, quality, and positive club appearance, while providing role modeling and guidance.
Contributing to the strategic plan by:
Organizing program services and activities like field trips, guest speakers, and special events
Initiating new programs with approval
Promoting participation
Monitoring and evaluating program achievements, recommending modifications, and participating in staff meetings are also key responsibilities.
Participation in local, state, regional, and national Boys & Girls Clubs Character and Leadership competitions is encouraged.
Health and Safety
Maintaining a healthy and safe environment
Supervising members during activities
Keeping the program area clean and well-stocked
Program Administration
Preparing weekly reports for the Program Director
Maintaining a daily schedule to ensure timely program start and end
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participating in special programs and events
Working evenings and weekends as needed
Driving the Club van (valid drivers license and clean record required)
Performing other duties as assigned
RELATIONSHIPS:
Daily contact with staff, volunteers, club members, and supervisors for communication, guidance, and support.
Requirements
Education:
High School diploma or GED Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test Experience: Knowledge of youth development Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior Public interaction skills Planning and implementing character and leadership programs Supervising youth in a safe environment Work Environment:
Usually MondayFriday, 2PM7PM, with possible longer hours and weekends. Work is indoors and outdoors.
