Olathe Health . The CT Technologist is responsible for producing images that create cross-sectional imaging for the purpose of diagnosing disease processes. Procedures can be performed at various health system locations. CT Technologists are expected to participate in ongoing training and education. Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions

Acts as a liaison for communication between other departments and assists when called upon for special projects that have been approved by the Radiology Department leadership team. Assists with developing continuing education strategies with the CT Department which will assist the long term enrichment of the staff. Participates in providing teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students. Ensures that all staff are operating equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures and protocols. Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within the scope of designated locations. Uses radiation protection principles to provide the lowest dose for reasonable image quality as overseen by staff radiologists. Maintains an organized workflow for scheduled patients, coordinates examinations in the most efficient order and performs exams to minimize patient stay. Has knowledge of contrast reactions and responses and can respond immediately to patient needs. Completes mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor/senior supervisor. Performs routine CT procedures at a high standard with growing ability to perform specialty studies with experience. Sets equipment parameters, provides patient assessment and education, prepares patients, and provides venous access for safe administration of contrast material. Supports the Mission and Vision of KU Hospital and the desire to reach "World Class" status. Other duties may be assigned as required. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Required Education And Experience

High School Graduate or GED OR Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology; graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology. Preferred Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited college or university. Experience performing basic CT procedures. 1 or more years of large facility experience. Required Licensure And Certification

Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT within 180 days Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts within 90 days Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association Preferred Licensure And Certification

Radiography (R) - ARRT; ARRT CT eligibility Knowledge Requirements

Advanced computer skills related to RIS, PACS, EMR. Time Type
