Responsibilities Position Summary:
The CT Technologist performs a variety of routine and specialized CT scan imaging procedures. Responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as one of the first line interfaces with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.
Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing examination and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
Demonstrates ability to position patient properly for the intended body part and ensure the order matches the intended body part along with proper clinical correlation.
Demonstrates ability to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure and makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
Works under the direction of the CT Scan radiologist and medical director of Medical Imaging at all times.
Agrees to be on-call according to a rotating schedule.
Covers Holidays and Holiday call per rotational schedule.
Completes all work competently and efficiently by the end of the shift, including checking with the acute care areas of the hospital prior to leaving in order to expedite patient care.
Performs all quality control checks, maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents any deviations.
Interacts professionally with patient, family and staff.
Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s and/or CT Supervisor’s instruction.
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
Knowledgeable of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Prefer 1 or more years of radiologic/imaging and/or CT scanning experience
Prefer CT Scanning Certification
Required - Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a current ARRT or NMTCB Certification in Computed Tomography
Current or within 1 month of hire American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BCLS certification. Re-certification of existing employees is due within 1 month of expiration date.
Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
Proficiency with CT Scanning equipment, hardware and software (GE, Siemens, Phillips, and Toshiba) preferred.
