Overview
Pure Imagination Labs System Administrator will work collaboratively with the CTO to support ongoing customer projects, along with Pure Imaginations IT infrastructure, processes, and technology requirements. You will formulate recommendations for hardware, software, and network solutions to effectively support ongoing technical projects and provide technical consulting support for onsite locations and remote work. This role is responsible for the meticulous management of in-house computer hardware and software systems, ensuring their optimal functionality and security, and includes documenting all work performed and consistently meeting billing targets as determined by senior level management. Salina, Kansas. Responsibilities
Design and implement robust hardware and software solutions for internal infrastructure and ongoing projects, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft technologies, Google Workspace, and popular cloud services. Deploy, configure, and manage server infrastructure, network devices, and end-user workstations across all company locations. Maintain and enforce security protocols to ensure all network infrastructure adheres to MPA and PCI compliance standards across all locations. Administer and fully support Proxmox and other virtual machine environments, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization. Provide comprehensive remote desktop support to staff, troubleshooting issues efficiently and effectively. Implement and manage user directory systems (including Microsoft Active Directory and Google Workspace), with a focus on maintaining appropriate user rights and privileges. Develop and execute data backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical company data. Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN configurations, VLAN configuration, and wireless networks across all locations. Ensure timely and accurate recording of work performed in the current tracking and helpdesk system. Collaborate with management to identify and implement new technologies and strategies to improve the companys IT infrastructure and efficiency. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff members. Manage and troubleshoot issues related to Microsoft Windows Server environments, Google Workspace administration, and popular cloud services. Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in cloud computing, virtualization, and cybersecurity. Participate in IT-related projects and initiatives, contributing technical expertise and ensuring successful outcomes. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network topology, security protocols, and operational procedures within the companys wiki. Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement preventative measures to ensure business continuity. Performs other duties as assigned. Key Technical Requirements
Expert knowledge in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Proxmox and other virtualization platforms. Expertise in router and switch configuration and management, including VLANs, routing protocols, and access control lists. Working knowledge in managing user accounts, security groups, and file-sharing permissions across diverse operating systems. Strong scripting skills for automation and system administration tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python). Proficiency in implementing and managing backup and recovery solutions. Strong understanding of operating system installation, configuration, and user account migration for both Windows and macOS environments (including current versions). Proven ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, systems, and concepts. Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, software development, networking and security principles. ITIL, CISSP, CCNA, or equivalent certification preferred. Maintenance of relevant certifications such as MCSE or equivalent is preferred. Solid working knowledge with network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall management. Experience managing and leveraging AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM). Proficient in managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server environments and related technologies (e.g. Active Directory, Group Policy). Comprehensive understanding and practical experience in maintaining network infrastructure in compliance with MPA and PCI standards. Working experience in administering and managing Google Workspace services (e.g. Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Admin console). Proficient in wireless network configuration, security protocols, and troubleshooting. Additional Qualifications
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical integration efforts, bridging software development, backend infrastructure, and hardware systems. Commitment to ongoing professional development, including pursuing and maintaining relevant certifications such as MCSE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent based on organizational needs. Contribute to webinars, conferences, and vendor engagements to stay informed about the latest technologies and best practices. Demonstrated ability to manage evolving requirements and complex logistics under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to produce clear technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, interface specs, workflow charts, and integration plans. Experience in technical support, including diagnostic, troubleshooting, problem solving and critical thinking. Contribute to the development of internal knowledge base articles and training materials. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism when interacting with staff. Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. Required Residence: Must reside in Kansas or relocate within six months of the offer. Required Travel: Travel up to 20% for project installations and between two site locations. Salary: $100,000 annually. This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), medical leave, and other perks.
