About this Position
The Hospitalist Medical Director provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the hospitalist program specific to the health ministry (SARMC). This role ensures high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care while aligning with institutional goals and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Administration: Work in a dyad fashion with hospital and SAMG Leadership to support in the planning, staffing, coordination, and evaluation of hospitalist services. Chair monthly department meetings and lead quality improvement initiatives. Attend Leadership Council as active participant leader and voting member on policies, quality initiatives, and action items from the Council Collaborate with hospital administration and quality and safety leadership operational goals to include but not limited to measures such as:
VTE Prophylaxis Medication Reconciliation Time for Discharge LOS targets Discharge planning Multidisciplinary rounding
Promote interdepartmental collaboration and maintain collegial relationships Work with administration to support hospitalist participation in hospital committees. Requirements: MD or DO; Board Certified (ABMS or AOBMS). Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a physician. Current, unrestricted state medical license. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Clinical Oversight: Ensure adequate provider coverage and manage day-to-day scheduling with manager support. Conduct annual reviews of protocols, order sets, and provider performance. Support onboarding and mentoring of new physicians and allied providers. Participate in patient experience initiatives and enforce related standards. Collaborate with specialty services on admission and consulting criteria for the service Quality & Compliance: Liaise with nursing leadership to address quality, process, and personnel issues. Monitor and report on quality indicators to hospital leadership Ensure compliance with medical staff policies and manage physician conflicts. Monitor financial performance and productivity of the hospitalist group. Support coding and documentation education to ensure accurate capture of work performed. Communication & Representation: Collaborate with other ministry hospitalist medical directors to implement system-wide initiatives and provide collaborative cross coverage. Represent the hospitalist team in administrative and interdepartmental forums. Partner with trauma, ED and other provider medical leaders in an effort to improve patient care through enhanced communication and collaboration. Community:
