Direct and responsible for safe operation of vessel, tow, and cargo. Supervise crew during vessel operations and demurrage, ensuring safety and environmental policies are followed. Maintain proper and valid vessel documentation on board the vessel. Coordinate and maintain vessel maintenance with Port Engineer; keep maintenance records up to date. Ensure vessel procedures, documentation, and inspections are conducted per requirements; direct crew and ensure deficiencies are corrected. Direct crew in preparation of a tow, assembly of towing rig, inspection, maintenance, and security of tow during transit; ensure rigging is adequate for multiple tows and configure for optimal sea-keeping. Conduct weekly fire and boat drills and log entries with date, time, and duration. Enforce Stevens Drug and Alcohol Policy and report any violations. Uphold fueling procedures and safe handling of fuel and pollutants; pursue pollution prevention programs. Qualifications
USCG Master of Towing Vessels license (clearly stated on USCG document) Radar Certification STCW TWIC Driver's License First Aid and CPR Barge handling experience required Mariner fitness to work per USCG or International standards; accommodations under ADA as needed Senioriy level
