The ChristianaCare Laboratory located on the Wilmington campus is currently recruiting for a
Casual Medical Laboratory Scientist I/Technician
to work on weekends as needed. This position is Day Shift, requiring at least one weekend per month from 7:00am - 3:30pm. An occasional weekend evening shift and one holiday per year may be required. Responsibilities: Accurately perform all test procedures as listed in the procedure manual. Perform and record all scheduled instrument preventative maintenance procedures. Follow established quality control procedures, documenting corrective actions if necessary. Adhere to all turnaround times, verify critical values and specimen identification, and document calls as necessary. Verify completion of all stat and routine results in a timely manner. Record workload and other statistics into the computer system as necessary. Perform assigned work safely, adhering to department safety rules and practices. Perform other related duties as instructed.
Requirements: Bachelor's of Science degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science, or completion of an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. BS in a chemical, physical, or biological science. ASCP Certification preferred. Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures. Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures. Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy. Skill in the use of automated laboratory equipment.
