is looking for a PRN MRI Technologist to join our team at our Spring location! Responsibilities
Set up and operate MRI scanners used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients Ensure the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis Position patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality MRI image of the specific body area requested by the physician Take preventative steps to ensure safety of patients and fellow staff Screen all patients to ensure no metal is in or on the patients body Address patient concerns during the procedure and explain the MRI process in a way that is informative and reassuring Position and restrain patients and take MRI of chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physicians Implement infection control procedures for the work area Check MRI for clarity of image, and retake MRI when needed Distribute films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR) Maintain quantity and quality control checks to assure MRI unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and facility policy Perform MRI procedures for patients in surgery or at outpatient imaging departments Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to MRI equipment, including determining repairs needed to equipment Troubleshoot peripheral equipment and scanners to ensure that equipment is operating properly to avoid downtime or delays that affect patient satisfaction Protects patient and other personnel from any metal exposure Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and equipment Assures that all materials and other required equipment are present and in working order Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements Adheres to the company standards of business conduct Performs other duties as assigned as per discretion of medical provider and facility Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures Knowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques Knowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work Knowledge of human anatomy Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology Studies Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR); or Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Townsen Memorial Hospital
