Role Overview The

Senior Center Coordinator/Social Service Attendant

(SCS) develops, coordinates, and promotes programs for seniors, overseeing daily activities, trips, and special events. Responsibilities include managing budgets, maintaining records, recruiting volunteers, representing the center in the community, and planning fundraising events. The SCS also collaborates with local agencies to serve seniors effectively and assists with food pantry, summer camp, VBS, and other programs as needed.

Schedule Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexible hours: 7 am – 3:30 pm or 7:30 am – 4 pm.

Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma with experience in senior or social services preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Must be at least 21 years old with a valid WA Driver License and clear Motor Vehicle Records.

Knowledge of social media, photography, videography, and basic software skills.

Ability to work independently, supervise volunteers, and handle demanding situations calmly.

First Aid & CPR, Food Handlers permit, and Bloodborne Pathogens training preferred (can be obtained within 90 days).

Experience working with volunteers and diverse populations, demonstrating leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain attendance and program statistics; prepare reports.

Handle public relations, promote programs, and create outreach materials.

Develop and evaluate programs, set goals, and maintain records.

Coordinate transportation, manage partnerships, and develop new initiatives.

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate volunteers.

Engage in outreach to community agencies and visit seniors unable to attend activities.

Assist with seasonal activities, including Christmas/Kettle campaigns.

Support social service functions, including operating Hope Market and maintaining client records.

Perform administrative duties, including correspondence, record keeping, and managing supplies.
