A Brief Overview Facilitates movement of patients to appropriate and alternate levels of care as needed and has the authority to facilitate the opening of transitional beds/unit in order to maximize patient throughput and ease excess capacity. This also includes patient access, transfer center, and system-wide coordination. Takes physician orders and completes admission assessments and other admission activities in times of unusually high activity. Maximizes patient throughput and access by working with Nursing divisions, Surgical areas, and ED to adequately plan for admissions and discharges. Ensures adequate staffing in all areas of the hospital and implements staffing changes quickly. Manages fluctuations in patient census utilizing productivity targets, staffing grids, and appropriate resources. Promotes Relationship Based Care and models the UH essential behaviors during all interactions with patients, physicians, and employees. What You Will Do

Manages patient flow and routine clinical operations by procuring resources necessary for patient care. Works collaboratively with the charge nurse to ensure appropriate staffing. Assumes leadership role in the absence of Administration during after hours, weekends, and holidays, and provides leadership for nursing staff in the absence of Clinical Managers, Directors, and VP. Leads the daily safety huddle call and partners with the Emergency Department (ED) during defined overcrowding intervals, especially in stage yellow, orange, and red. May round in the ED more than once a shift. Makes critical staffing decisions, including movement of RNs, Sitters, CTAs, etc., as necessary. Assesses ED needs during surges and assists with patient flow in the department. Ensures adequate staffing and manages sitter and restraint utilization. Ensures provision of care, restraint use, safety, and regulatory compliance. Administers rapid response protocols and responds to BAT, traumas, all codes (blue, violent, etc.), and assists as needed. Provides administrative, operational, and clinical support to patient care areas and leadership. Improves systems supporting patient care. Maintains the environment of care and supports clinical staff through visibility, coaching, and assistance. Addresses staff concerns, leads through change, and fosters a positive work environment. Serves as disaster management lead in leadership absence and ensures service recovery to patients and families for positive experiences. Additional Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. References departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties. Maintains confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI), with annual training and adherence to UH policies.
