General Job Summary:

Responsible for operating radiological and fluoroscopic equipment. Essential Job Functions Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Reads patients charts and relays physician orders to other staff members. Maintains all radiographic files completely and accurately. Complies with safety standards, OSHA, and HIPAA. Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs. Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary. Operates and maintains all imaging department equipment. Performs all imaging exams according to provider protocols and other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

Certified as a medical radiologic technologist as required by the state. Associates degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program. CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. Other Requirements:

Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends. Travel as needed. Knowledge

Knowledge of radiology procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiology testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology. Knowledge of body mechanics. Knowledge of electronic health records and practice management systems.

Skills

Skill in positioning patients properly. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.

Abilities

Ability to lift and position patients for the type of x-ray procedure required. Ability to notice detail in radiological images with differences in shapes and sizes. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices. Ability to evaluate images and make technical changes as needed.
