Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist
Location: Community-Based Hospital, Oregon

Position Summary
Provide quality care, to include diagnostic imaging, patient care and customer service. It is expected to care for our patients from the moment we get an order to the time they leave the department. Blue Mountain Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital, and the Radiology Department responsibilities are to schedule patients, and perform exams while providing optimal patient care. The department works closely with providers at the Strawberry Wilderness Clinic, other departments within the hospital and Central Oregon Radiology Associates. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures in a safe and prudent manner for the specific purpose of producing high quality general abdominal exams, OB/GYN, small parts, venous and carotid Doppler exams. Follows appropriate guidelines for exams, patient needs, confidentiality, QC/QI and archiving.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Performs exams from start to finish.
Registers/Checks In Patient
Checks authorizations and medical necessity.
Confirm order is accurate and has authorization. Lab orders/results available within 30 days for CT exams with contrast. Call and schedule patients according to department protocol. Enter correct demographics and order into the RIS. Perform exam according to the physician order and department protocol. Notate appropriate documentation Make exam available to Radiologists to be read via PACS Complete exam within the hospital EHR.
Maintain Infection Control
Clean after every patient Practice good hand hygiene Wipe down high touch surfaces Wear proper PPE Maintain QA on Trophon equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic computer skills Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to maneuver patients on table in order to obtain proper images. Able to lift at least 50 lbs. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public whether in person or over the phone. Uses AIDET according to BMHD policy Appropriate positioning for the exam ordered by physician. Practices good sterile techniques. Critical thinking:
Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgement in decision making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
Practices and abides by patient safety standards at all times. Handles confidential information according to HIPAA regulations. Train in other modalities and/or assist with training as requested.
Education, Experience & Certification/Licensure
Required Graduate with an Associate or Bachelor degree from an approved school. Maintain the required amount of CEUs per certifying body. Certification through ARDMS or equivalent in abdomen and/or OB/GYN. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider (HCP) level License from Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) upon start date. Equivalent to standard as described under OAR 337-010-0014 Qualifications of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Preferred One (1) year experience in abdomen and OB/GYN exams, breast is a plus.
