Performs imaging / therapeutic services and associated patient care in support of the Radiology Department's mission to provide diagnostic information for patient treatment at WVU Medicine. Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
Completion of an Accredited Radiography School Must be registered (or registry eligible) by the ARRT in Radiography. If eligible, must pass boards within 6 months (West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland) or one year (Pennsylvania). Radiologist Technologist certification through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board or applicable state. Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. State criminal background check required, and federal background check if applicable. Core Duties and Responsibilities
The following are general responsibilities; other duties may be assigned: Rotate across all diagnostic areas to develop technical skills (e.g., Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, OR, Endoscopy, Orthopedics). Perform imaging procedures based on patient assessment, request, and protocols, with supervision. Produce high-quality images using appropriate equipment and techniques. Select exposure factors based on patient specifics to optimize image quality and minimize radiation exposure. Minimize radiation exposure using shielding, collimation, and other safety measures. Maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to imaging. Assess patient needs and provide support for comfort and hygiene. Prepare contrast agents and sterile trays per protocols. Educate patients about procedures and answer questions. Collaborate effectively with team members across departments. Engage in problem-solving and quality improvement initiatives. Adhere to ethical standards, policies, and regulations. Report equipment issues immediately. Complete required training and competencies. Position patients accurately following protocols. Coordinate daily workflow. Supervise and instruct radiology students as appropriate. Ensure all components of the imaging process are completed thoroughly. Physical Requirements
Different shades of gray on imaging monitors. Stand and walk for extended periods. Wear lead aprons weighing 8-15 pounds. Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Carry items up to 20 pounds. Work Environment
Exposure to minimal radiation, monitored with dosimeters. Exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids. Operate imaging equipment with moving parts. Skills and Abilities
Positive interaction with patients and team members. Prioritization and multitasking skills. Ability to adapt positioning and techniques as needed. Additional Information
