LAIKA Studios . The Systems Administrator plays a vital role in supporting LAIKAs creatively driven production environment. From sculpted puppets to powerful pipelines, this role helps ensure the systems behind our animated films run smoothly. Collaborating with technical, business operations, and production teams, the Systems Administrator helps maintain, support, and evolve the infrastructure that powers everything from studio operations to the handcrafted artistry onscreen. Job Functions Provide technical support for desktop and mobile devices, peripherals, and a variety of production-critical applications. Collaborate with production and technical teams to troubleshoot issues and implement effective, timely solutions. Manage support requests through the IT ticketing system, ensuring consistent and responsive service. Administer mobile device management (MDM) software, supporting secure and streamlined device use across the studio. Create and maintain documentation and training materials to help users navigate systems and tools with ease. Research new tools and technologies that could enhance workflows, performance, or user experience. Support infrastructure needs by assisting the Systems Engineering team with routine server and network administration tasks. Communicate IT policies and procedures in a clear, user-friendly way to promote best practices and consistency across the studio.
Qualifications
3+ years experience supporting Linux, macOS, and Windows desktops, with a solid understanding of Unix, networking, and hardware fundamentals. Familiarity with automation and configuration tools (e.g., Salt, Ansible), device management platforms (e.g., JAMF, Intune), and ticketing systems (e.g., JSM or YouTrack). Experience with scripting languages (Shell, Ruby, Python); knowledge of visual effects pipelines or related applications is a plus. Exposure to Azure AD, Office 365, and Exchange environments preferred. Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; able to support technical and non-technical users alike. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, including in confined spaces like server rooms. Thrives in a deadline-driven environment and remains calm under pressure.
