Suffolk Public Schools 1551 TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN I SALARY RANGE: $57,637 - $73,944 General Definition and Conditions of Work

Performs difficult technical work troubleshooting, installing, configuring, integrating, maintaining, and modifying computers, peripherals, and software; does related work as required. Team Lead for Technology Technicians; additional duties to include basic supervision of staff involved in field projects. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Technology. This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. Essential Functions / Typical Tasks Configuring, installing, and maintaining software applications; providing technical support to users; troubleshooting, repairing, installing, upgrading, and maintaining computer software and hardware; preparing and maintaining files and records. Team Lead for field projects Provides software configuration, installation, and support services; Installs hardware and software and support platforms; Maintain and repair hardware (computers and peripherals) Trains users in the use of PC equipment and software applications; Answers phone; performs technical support for users; Estimates material and parts needs; orders supplies; Performs related tasks as required.

Thorough knowledge of the operation, uses and capabilities of electronic data processing main and peripheral equipment; thorough knowledge of hardware and software procedures and techniques; thorough knowledge of network administration practices and techniques; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to recognize and assess maintenance and repair needs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, system users and the general public. Education And Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in the installation and maintenance of networked computer systems and related software applications. Special Requirements
