Database Administrator Contractual

This candidate will be primarily responsible for managing the enterprise-wide MSSQL databases in production. The primary duties include OS/DB patching, database integrity work, security design, disaster recovery planning, performance tuning, and auditing. In addition, this role will oversee the scheduling of database projects, database and transactions log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites, and maintain documentation on database architecture. The candidate will work closely with the enterprise on our Datahub reporting solution and our Data Analytics and Reporting strategy. Responsibilities Coordinate database strategy and implement solutions accordingly. Familiar with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and data solutions that are cloud-first. Production support for on-prem, cloud, and IaC database environments. Database monitoring and alerting utilizing Splunk Enterprise. Develop database architectures based on best-in-class solutions. Participate in database POC work and vendor engagement. Problem management and RCA ownership for unplanned database-related events. Database software installations, migrations, patches, and upgrades. Budget oversight and management of licensing. Design, configure, test, and support high-availability clustering for database solutions. Security and performance tuning of relational databases. Develop, maintain, and test database backups, recovery plans, active database replications, and database clusters. Monitor long-running transactions and query execution optimizations. SQL development capabilities, which include scripting, programming, stored procedures, etc. DevOps and Agile development are capable. Familiarity with Git and source code management methodologies. Management of database maintenance, including configuration, backups, HA options, etc. Scripting of database solutions using bash, Python, Perl, Java, or equivalent. Oversight and management of access permissions and privileges. Develop capacity planning and database deployment standards. Production support and issue resolution. Project engagements and database technology representation. Familiar with working with Jira and an online service desk platform. May include some after-hours support required. Other duties as required.

Competencies

Platform support and maintenance. OS level Windows Server, Linux, Unix, OCI. The ability to develop SQL based automation, and code. Understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments. Knowledge of OLTP and OLAP applications. Required knowledge of various hot and cold database backup and recovery scenarios. Experience in code migration, database change management, and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle. Knowledge of SAN and NAS storage. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills with demonstrated experience in documenting.

Education and Experience

2+ years of experience as lead SQL Server DBA/DBE. 2+ years of experience working with Windows/SQL Server. Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience. Flexible work from home options available. #J-18808-Ljbffr
