This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to introduce consistent governance approaches, assist in establishing data product oversight, and promote data literacy and accountability throughout the organization. MUST HAVES: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field. 5 years of experience in data management, governance, or metadata operations. Data Quality Oversight Support development of data quality standards and KPIs. Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to embed trust indicators into pipelines Ensure glossary terms, ownership, and technical metadata are complete and accurate Stewardship & Ownership Mapping Assist in defining and tracking Critical Data Elements (CDEs). Help operationalize ownership across domains Governance Checkpoints in Data Lifecycle Embed governance controls from design to decommissioning of data products. Ensure lineage documentation and metadata quality are maintained Enterprise Data Catalog Adoption Lead onboarding and training for catalog users. Monitor engagement and enrichment progress using dashboards Scorecards & Value Realization Develop dashboards to track governance maturity, trust coverage, and metadata completeness. Capture and communicate early wins to build momentum Governance Enablement & Communication Support rollout of foundational training and communications. Promote data literacy and reinforce governance standards Technical Proficiency Familiarity with SQL for validation and reporting. Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and cloud platforms (Azure, Snowflake) Minimum Requirements Expertise with enterprise data catalog tools (preferably Microsoft Purview/Alation). Strong background in metadata management, glossary design, and stewardship frameworks. Experience of data privacy, compliance, and access control frameworks. Deep understanding of data quality metrics, lineage, and data lifecycle governance. Exposure to BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker). Overall responsibilities: Metadata & Data Quality Enablement Help establish consistent processes for capturing, managing, and enhancing metadata within our enterprise data catalog (Microsoft Purview/Alation). Support the development and enforcement of basic metadata quality standards to ensure glossary terms, ownership details, and technical metadata are complete, accurate, and aligned. Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, and Product teams to begin embedding trust indicators into data pipelines and platforms, laying the foundation for reliable and transparent data use. Glossary & Stewardship Operations Support the development and maintenance of aligned business and enterprise glossaries, following foundational Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) standards. Ensure the creation and ongoing management of business and enterprise glossaries that adhere to foundational Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) standards. Assist in introducing persona-based ownership models across systems and data domains to begin clarifying roles and responsibilities. Assist in tracking stewardship activities and mapping accountability for Critical Data Elements (CDEs), ensuring clear ownership and oversight. Data Product Governance Begin embedding governance checkpoints throughout the data product lifecycle—from initial design through to decommissioning—to promote consistency and accountability. Ensure that each data product has clearly defined ownership, high-quality metadata, and well-documented lineage that supports usability and trust. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data asset trust, adoption, reuse, and alignment with business goals. Enterprise Data Catalog Adoption Lead onboarding and training initiatives to empower catalog users—including data stewards, engineers, analysts, and product teams—to effectively navigate and contribute to the enterprise data catalog. Track user engagement and metadata enrichment progress using dashboards and catalog maturity metrics. Act as the go-to resource for metadata-related support, guidance, and ongoing enablement. Scorecards, Dashboards & Value Realization Support the initial development and maintenance of simple scorecards and dashboards to track early data governance activities, including trust coverage and metadata completeness. Begin capturing baseline metrics to measure progress in data maturity and catalog adoption over time. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and communicate early wins, helping to demonstrate the value of data governance efforts and build momentum across the organization. Governance Enablement & Communications Support the rollout of foundational training and communication efforts to introduce data governance standards, roles, and expectations across the organization. Help foster a growing data community by encouraging collaboration, sharing best practices, and building early data literacy through workshops, forums, and informal engagement. Act as a connector between teams to promote alignment and shared understanding as data governance practices evolve. Experience supporting data product governance at the enterprise level. Preferred Skills Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure Data Services. Familiarity with AI technologies, including Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and related frameworks Familiarity with data quality tools (e.g.MS Purview, Alation, Palantir etc). Proficient in SQL for data querying and validation. Ability to manage intake, prioritize requests, and deliver with precision
