We are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of catheters. This role spans concept through commercialization, including prototyping, validation, and transition to manufacturing. You’ll collaborate with physicians, vendors, and cross-functional teams to bring innovative devices from early design to high-volume production. Key Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and validate catheter-based devices using advanced manufacturing methods (extrusion, braiding, laminating, bonding, molding, welding, cutting, etc.) Translate product concepts into manufacturable designs; support smooth transfer into production Conduct feasibility studies, bench testing, in-vivo/in-vitro animal testing, and validation under design control Generate design documentation including DHFs, FMEAs, hazard analyses, and test protocols/reports Collaborate with physicians and clinical partners to integrate user feedback into design improvements Manage sub-projects and external resources; contribute to IP portfolio and safety/efficacy assessments Mentor and support technicians and junior staff Qualifications
BS in Mechanical, Materials, or related engineering field (MS preferred) Experience with energy-delivery catheters and cardiac anatomy highly preferred Proven record of innovative product concepts through commercialization SolidWorks CAD proficiency; knowledge of GD&T and drafting standards Strong understanding of mechanical engineering theory, adhesives, and high-volume manufacturing Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills Startup experience a plus; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Ability to travel up to 15% (domestic/international) Seniority level
