Vice President of Engineering and Major Projects Base pay range: $234,650.00/yr - $351,976.00/yr Darigold is the fifth-largest dairy cooperative in the United States based on milk volume, and one of the largest privately held organizations headquartered in Washington. This is an exciting time to join the Darigold team, as we are seeking a Vice President of Engineering and Major Projects to provide leadership, strategy, and tactical direction for Darigold’s Engineering and Major Projects Department. The role handles the effective execution of multiple capital projects ranging from $1–2 million (continuous improvement) to large brownfield and greenfield plant projects from $50 million to $200 million. The position manages a dynamic team of 12+ professionals whose responsibilities include designing and implementing manufacturing/maintenance processes, equipment purchasing and installation, and plant construction and design. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing planning and execution, driving continuous improvement, and developing the team. What You Will Do Direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects to meet objectives Oversee startup and commissioning of new buildings and expansions Determine and manage engineering budgets Consult or negotiate with clients to finalize project specifications Negotiate with third-party engineering suppliers for cost-effective contracts Present engineering plans, progress, and status updates to stakeholders Review and approve proposed designs, products, and process changes Approve proposals, expenditures, and policy enforcement Provide periodic project updates to the Board of Directors Collaborate with plant operations on process optimization Develop programs and procedures for facilities and equipment maintenance, problem identification, and employee training Ensure succession planning and employee development, including hiring Lead capital expenditure planning and forecasting with consideration of infrastructure and risk Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance Develop standards for construction methods, materials, standardization, and equipment What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience Fifteen (15) years of experience in the food processing industry Robust experience in project management and significant capital projects, including greenfield initiatives Strong business and strategic planning skills Ability to work in fast, cross-functional teams Experience budgeting, tracking costs, analyzing data, and developing action plans Experience managing a multidisciplinary engineering team Experience managing subcontractors Nice to Have Experience managing complex multidisciplinary engineering, construction, and live-operations projects through the full lifecycle Record of delivering large infrastructure projects on time and within budget Excellent communication skills with senior leadership Strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership abilities for managing engineers and technical staff Ability to multitask under pressure and analyze data for actionable insights Ethical judgment and discretion in significant matters Benefits of Working at Darigold Competitive total rewards package including 401(k) with employer matching Comprehensive medical, dental & vision benefits Employer-paid life & disability coverage Paid time off and paid holidays 8 weeks of paid parental leave Education assistance and employee assistance program Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship if approved Compensation range mirrors base pay: $234,650.00-$351,976.00 Our Commitment to Diversity We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and Affirmative Action Employer.
