What You Will Do Physics Division Office is seeking a customer-focused individual for the position of Operations Support Specialist 2 to serve as an integral part of the Physics Division. The successful candidate will provide on-site operational support to the division and serve as a primary liaison with a variety of programmatic organizations, support organizations, Associate Laboratory Directorate of Physical Sciences and the Facility Operations Directorate organizations (LANSCE-FOD and STO-FOD).

The selected candidate will be expected to operate with initiative, professionalism, dependability, and flexibility within a dynamic organization. Specific duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Oversees Division safety efforts; participates in Worker Environment, Safety, and Security Team (WESST) and Environmental Management System (EMS); coordinates with Division Subject Matter Experts. Ensure policy compliance; serve as Policy Point of Contact; accountable source tracking, etc. Support of Division space utilization, salvage efforts, and waste management. Serve as Chemical Hygiene Officer for Division, supporting inventory, testing, and disposals. Serve as procurement Subcontract Technical Representative (STR); oversight of high priority procurements and complex contracts. Assist in the coordination of various administrative functions in support of Division operations.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Familiarity with safety protocols and operations support in complex R&D facilities. Demonstrated skills in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting administrative activities, including procurement activities. Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities, and the ability to follow multiple tasks to completion. Demonstrated experience in decision making, organizing, and prioritizing tasks, and taking initiative. Demonstrated experience in project management including budget tracking, coordinating with stakeholders, and providing status updates. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrated experience to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers; strong customer service and teaming skills. The ability to obtain a Q-Clearance, which typically requires U.S. citizenship.

Education/Experience : Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications :

Knowledge of the Laboratory's procurement regulations, policies, and practices. Knowledge of the Laboratory's security and safety policies, practices, and procedures. Familiarity with Physics Division organizations and operations. Active Q Clearance. Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

- Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q

(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility Requirements

: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test : The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular Position : Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants : Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
