Spectrum Resorts manages two premier beachfront resorts offering luxurious accommodations, exceptional guest experiences, and a vibrant workplace culture. We also manage luxury accommodations in Tuscaloosa near Bryant Denney Stadium and oversee a small management team at The Outlets of Mississippi. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Human Resources Director to lead and enhance our HR functions, fostering an inclusive and high-performance environment for our team.
Position Summary:
The HR Director will oversee all aspects of the company’s human resources practices and processes. This role is pivotal in shaping a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and aligning HR strategies with the resort’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the HR team, providing guidance and development opportunities.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract top talent. Oversee the foreign recruiting program to include H2B and J1 workers.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and performance management systems.
- Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary procedures.
- Drive employee engagement and recognition programs.
- Oversee training programs, including Spectrum University.
- Collaborate with department heads to align staffing needs and organizational goals.
- Oversee benefits administration, payroll coordination, and compensation planning.
- Champion equity and inclusion across the organization.
- Assist in safety programs, ensuring OSHA training and Worker Compensation programs are up to date.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the hospitality or resort industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, benefits, and organizational development.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems.
- Experience supervising and developing staff.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve problems.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and compliance issues.
- Outstanding judgment, sensitivity, and high discretion.
- Ability to provide thoughtful, strategic guidance.
- Passion for caring for team members and maintaining a positive culture.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to speak clearly in group settings.
- This position requires sitting for long periods, walking, standing, bending, and using fine motor skills such as typing.
- The majority of work will be indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
- Must be available to travel to other office locations as needed.
