Market Manager – Midtown Farmers' Market & Maker's Alley Market

About the Role:
As Market Manager, you will lead the planning, implementation, and day-to-day operations of the Midtown Farmers' Market and the new Maker's Alley Market. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to engage with vendors, customers, and the broader community while managing events, marketing, and strategic planning.
Event Management:
Coordinate and prepare a strong, well-organized seasonal market through recruiting new vendors, managing the application and acceptance process, monitoring compliance with relevant regulations and codes, securing necessary permits and licenses, and making sure all vendor forms are completed and properly retained.
Week of Market – Coordinate with Property Management, vendor / programming partners, and misc. admin tasks.
Day of Market - Manage production and intern(s); Coordinate the open and close of market, making equipment available, assigning stalls, handling emergencies and complaints, quality control of produce and craft items as well as the market's general appearance, collecting all stall fees, managing market buck program(s), maintaining the info booth, and coordinating with sponsors, non-profits, and weekly programming partners.
Marketing and Community Relations:
Maintain the market website, social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram), and create weekly market e-newsletter.
Communicate and network on behalf of the market with Residential Community Managers, Commercial Property Managers, and local retailers; Maintain necessary relationships with city and county officials, the health department, the Farmers' Market Coalition, and other non-profit program partners.
Developing a positive relationship with the vendors by educating and/or assisting with merchandising, pricing, and other marketing and business skills; Building positive customer relations experiences to maintain or increase attendance.
Strategic Planning:
Evaluate the market by conducting periodic surveys to assess customer opinions and satisfaction, program and plan market kick-off/wrap-up meetings, schedule advisory council meetings, and continually monitor the market's mission, goals, and promotional strategies.
Fundraising:
Assist in ongoing fundraising efforts to include sponsorship sales, promotional events at the market, vendor fee collection, etc.; Collaborate on design and pricing of market sponsor packages.
Advisory Council Management:
Coordinate and interface with the Advisory Committee on selection of members, scheduling group meetings, assistance in farm inspections as needed; Enlist group input in the development of strategic plans or decisions.
Who You Are:
Basic knowledge of local and sustainable agriculture required (farming or market experience preferred).
Commitment to the Midtown Farmers' Market and its values and a connection to local community.
Strong communication skills, leadership capabilities; good writing and organizational skills required; Ability to handle conflict in a professional, respectful manner.
Must be comfortable standing onsite; able to lift 25 lbs.); Comfortable working with special event equipment: tents/tables.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Additional Details:
Salaried position with benefits + phone stipend.
Hybrid work model with at least one day per week in the office.
Must commit to 24 of 31 Saturday market mornings (6AM–1PM) and 6 Tuesday evenings (3PM–8PM).
