Job Description
Pay Rate: $22 - $26 per hour + commissions
Shift/Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM / Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Location: Bakersfield Office
Position Purpose/Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Sales, the Inside Sales Representative is responsible for increasing Knight’s revenue & earnings by retaining and developing assigned customers, finding and closing new opportunities, and closing inbound opportunities that come to Knight’s via phone/web leads. This position will focus on developing revenue in the Special Event and Government end markets for KSS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Development & Management
- Manage, nurture, and develop assigned Tier 2 & Tier 3 customers to drive growth and retention rates in the Event and Government segments. This is achieved via renewing current and previous events and government contracts while cross-selling customers into additional products.
- Utilize CRM to track events and government contract dates and utilize Tower to complete RFP’s and all necessary quotation requirements.
- Utilize KSS event calculator and standardized pricing tools to ensure accurate pricing for events.
Prospecting
- ISR will research government websites and purchasing sources to identify new contracting opportunities.
- ISR will cold call on prospects and dormant accounts (non-customers) to find new events and government contract opportunities.
- ISR will engage new prospects and work to close the opportunities that are identified.
- Receive and close event and government leads routed from Customer Service and the KSS website for inquiries on Fence / Sanitation services.
- Follow lead routing tools to know which opportunities to close vs. forward to others.
Administrative & Other
- Complete daily call log (inbound and outbound) or utilize Tower/CRM system for call tracking.
- Send weekly report(s) as directed to Manager. Currently includes “Call Log” and “Pipeline” report.
- Conduct all business within the established policies and procedures of KSS including pricing authorizations.
- Ensure all prices quoted are within Knight’s guidelines or that approval has been given otherwise.
- Coordinate operational commitments with operations to ensure commitments are attainable.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work environment: Work environment is in an office setting at a desk. Inside sales representatives will spend a substantial amount of time using phones and computers.
