Transportation Assistant

The incumbent serves as a Transportation Assistant - Transportation Coordinator acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs. The incumbent works with the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation, and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program. Responsibilities include: Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling, and admissions scheduling. Daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS). Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Reviews documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Plans for, organizes, administers, and directs how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program. Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions. Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas: electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management; space utilization services. Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with rotating shifts to include weekends and holidays. Work schedules may change based on agency needs. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 9-15-2025. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-5 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-6 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary, and is performed in an office setting.
