Position Summary : The Project Accountant will manage the financial aspects of construction projects from start to finish. This role includes tracking project costs, preparing financial reports, managing billing and collections, and ensuring accurate job costing. The Project Accountant will collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to support timely and profitable project delivery. Key Responsibilities : Maintain accurate project cost records, including labor, materials, subcontractor, and overhead allocations.
Prepare monthly project financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for management and stakeholders.
Review and process subcontractor invoices, change orders, and progress billings.
Monitor project budgets and assist project managers in identifying cost overruns and potential savings.
Ensure accurate and timely job cost reporting within the accounting system.
Support month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting.
Assist in audits by providing project-related financial documentation and reconciliations.
Collaborate with operations and finance teams to streamline processes and implement best practices.
Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and project accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting and construction management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Viewpoint, Procore).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
