Job Title: Stormwater Engineer (Technical Lead) Location: Primary: Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL

Additional: Crown Point, IN; Indianapolis, IN

Work Schedule:

Hybrid: 3 days in the office and 2 days work-from-home.

Role Overview

The client is seeking a Stormwater Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our Water Resources team. The successful candidate will lead technical aspects of projects, providing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and designing solutions for stormwater and floodplain challenges. This role will involve collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring staff, and maintaining positive client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for floodplains, floodways, bridge, and culvert crossings.

Analyze flood problem areas, identify issues, and develop/design alternative solutions.

Design stormwater systems for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and quality best management practices.

Design soil erosion and sediment control practices.

Serve as the technical lead, managing engineers and technicians to complete project plans, while independently handling critical tasks as needed.

Conduct

calculations/models,

prepare reports, draft plans, and perform cost estimation.

Review and validate engineering work completed by team members.

Maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors.

Mentor and support staff engineers.

Requirements Must-Have Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

8-12 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering (flexible for highly experienced candidates).

Proven ability to lead projects from a technical perspective.

Hands-on experience with storm water design and management.

Expertise in hydraulic analysis for open stream projects.

Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulics modeling tools, such as HEC-RAS and SWMM.

Strong skills in roadway drainage and flood reduction projects.

Illinois and/or Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Project resume showcasing technical leadership in relevant projects (required).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).

Experience with erosion control and floodplain management.

Proficiency with Micro station (AutoCAD experience is a plus).
