Job Description
ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are currently in search of a Security Guard who is looking to join a rewarding team and grow with the company.The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable inmaintaining a secure environment, responding to incidents, and adhering to security protocolsand be a team player, positive and hardworking.
The Security Guards main responsibility is to control and secure access to a facility by monitoring and regulating who and what enters and exits. This includes verifying credentials, inspecting vehicles, and enforcing security policies. They also act as a deterrent to potential intruders and are trained to identify and report suspicious activities.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Monitoring and controlling access points, such as gates and doors, to ensure only authorized personnel, vehicles, and visitors are permitted entry.
- Control and record the entry and exit of employees, visitors, and vendors.
- Monitor and verify employees departures at the end of their shifts.
- Track and verify the removal and return of equipment, machinery, and tools.
- Conduct regular patrols around the premises to prevent incidents and detect risks.
- Ensure that sensitive areas such as warehouses, workshops, and offices are properly locked and secure.
- Monitor and report any unusual behavior, damage, or unauthorized access.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports of security activities.
- Respond to and support emergency protocols such as fires, evacuations, or accidents.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of security protocols and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with security equipment: (CCTV, alarms, etc.).
- Basic recordkeeping skills (manual or digital).
- Strong observation, analysis and deduction skills.
- Attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a wide variety of people.

- Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and sound judgment.
Education, Training and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous security, surveillance, or access control experience preferred (minimum 1 year).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Medium/heavy - exert force of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Physical agility and fitness
- Frequent talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing, crouching, reaching, handling, repetitive fine motor activities, and feeling.
- Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment.
Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must have a valid driver's licenseat time of application.
