Youth Services Librarian, Arapahoe Libraries Inspire Curiosity and Connection to Empower Every Child Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a
Youth Services Librarian
to lead innovative programming, strengthen outreach partnerships, and mentor staff in delivering exceptional
service to children ages 5-12 and their caregivers.
You will serve as a district resource while helping ensure our libraries remain welcoming, trusted spaces for youth and families. This role focuses on
programming, outreach, professional development, and mentorship.
You will design and deliver exceptional programs, connect families to resources, and support lifelong learning for our elementary aged patrons. About the Role As a district-wide youth services expert, you will design and implement engaging programs across multiple branches, collaborate with branch and district teams, provide advisory support to patrons, and partner with schools and community organizations. Your work will champion inclusive, innovative services that adapt to the evolving needs of families while contributing to long-term strategic goals for youth engagement. Key Responsibilities Programs and Services Develop and facilitate engaging library programs for school-aged children and their caregivers Provide advanced advisory services and support materials in print and online Collaborate with staff across branches to design, promote, and evaluate programming Lead district wide youth initiatives, contests, and projects Outreach Build and sustain partnerships with schools, educators, and community organizations Represent the library at community meetings and events Provide tours, class visits, and off-site presentations to promote library resources Strategic Planning and Professional Development Stay current on trends in youth services and literature Research and evaluate community needs to inform new initiatives Anticipate changes and challenges and help set priorities for responsive services Share knowledge through professional conferences, networking, and publications Mentorship and Liaison Work Mentor paraprofessional staff and branch Youth Reference Librarians to expand skills and services Serve as a youth services liaison for assigned branches Provide training, guidance, and support to colleagues across the district What You Will Bring Youth Services Expertise : Experience designing and delivering programs and services for school-aged children and their families Program-Focused Impact: Comfortable developing patron relationships through programs, outreach, and services without being a branch-based staff member or working the library floor regularly. Community Engagement Skills:
Ability to build partnerships with schools, educators, and community organizations to extend library services Facilitator's Mindset:
Ability to encourage colleagues to share ideas, invite dialogue, and create space for all voices to be heard Adaptability and Innovation:
Capacity to anticipate trends and challenges and help shape responsive, forward-thinking youth services Equity-Focused Perspective:

Qualifications Required Two years of related experience such as youth services, teaching, or community work with children Master's degree in library and information science or ability to obtain one within three years of hire (with application within six months) Bachelor's degree Knowledge of children's literature, developmental theories, and advisory practices Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ability to learn new technologies Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English to better serve the needs of the district Experience developing and conducting children's programs Experience with outreach and public speaking Project management and planning experience Experience facilitating meetings and trainings Who We Are At Arapahoe Libraries, we are a forward-thinking, inclusive organization committed to enriching lives and strengthening our community.
