A leading steel manufacturing company is seeking a
Lab Technician
to join its Quality Department. This is a hands-on role supporting material testing and analysis in a heavy industrial environment. What You’ll Do: Perform mechanical and metallurgical testing including tensile, impact, grain size, and Jominy hardenability. Retrieve and prepare test samples using saws, Mazak tooling, and other machining equipment. Conduct
microstructure/macrostructure
evaluations and chemical analyses. Document results accurately using computer systems (Excel, Word, database entry). Package and ship samples for external testing when required. Maintain lab consumables (tooling, grinding papers, inserts, saw blades) and perform routine equipment upkeep. Provide support to metallurgists for process trials and failure analysis investigations. What We’re Looking For: 1+ years of experience in steel, metals, machining, or industrial lab environments. High school diploma or GED required. Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial setting (not a medical/sterile lab). Experience with testing machines, Mazak tooling, abrasive systems, or CNC tooling preferred. Basic computer skills (Excel/Word) for data documentation. Experience with ISO 9001 environments a plus.
