Summary/Objective:
Performs assigned, introductory engineering tasks for the design and preparation of plans and details and performs design calculations for projects. Works side-by-side with engineering professionals in a fast-paced, professional environment to apply knowledge and skills learned through a postsecondary civil engineering program.
Essential Functions Assists in developing design concepts, studies, and design options Performs basic analysis and design calculations under direct supervision Prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates using computer-aided engineering software Performs field investigations and construction administrative duties under direct supervision Provides support to engineering staff members as needed Assists in reviewing close-out documents as needed
Education/Experience/Skills In progress towards earning a BS or MS in a civil engineering or related program, preferably at a junior level or above GPA of 3.0 or above Demonstrates the ability to exercise good engineering judgment Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred Demonstrates ability to successfully engage with professionals at all levels in an engineering environment Excellent oral and written communication skills
