About the Role: The Paraprofessional Russian Speaking position at Avant Garde Academy Foundation, Inc. is designed to provide essential support to classroom teachers by assisting Russian-speaking students in their academic and social development. This role focuses on bridging language barriers to ensure that students who are native Russian speakers receive equitable access to educational resources and opportunities. The paraprofessional will work closely with educators to implement instructional strategies tailored to the needs of Russian-speaking learners, facilitating comprehension and engagement. Additionally, the role involves fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that respects cultural diversity and promotes student confidence. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance student learning outcomes and contribute to the overall success of the school community through effective communication and collaboration. Minimum Qualifications: Fluency in both Russian and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred. Experience working with children in an educational or supportive role. Basic knowledge of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and families in a culturally sensitive manner. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a paraprofessional or teaching assistant in a bilingual or multicultural educational setting. Familiarity with educational technology and tools used to support language learning. Certification or coursework related to bilingual education, special education, or child development. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Experience in interpreting and translating educational materials and communications. Responsibilities: Assist classroom teachers in delivering instructional content to Russian-speaking students, ensuring comprehension and participation. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional help with language acquisition and academic tasks. Translate and interpret communications between teachers, students, and families to facilitate understanding and engagement. Support classroom management by promoting positive behavior and a respectful learning environment. Collaborate with educators and staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans tailored to students’ linguistic and academic needs. Monitor student progress and report observations to teachers to inform instructional adjustments. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to bilingual education and student support. Skills: The required skills of bilingual fluency in Russian and English are essential for daily communication with students, families, and staff, ensuring clear and accurate information exchange. Strong interpersonal skills enable the paraprofessional to build trusting relationships with students and support their social-emotional development. Instructional support skills are applied when assisting teachers in adapting lessons and providing targeted academic help to Russian-speaking learners.
