Speedway Christmas Setup Crew Member

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Speedway Christmas Setup Crew is responsible for the set up and tear down of the Speedway Christmas Light Show. We are looking to hire individuals with a passion to make Charlotte Motor Speedway a Christmas wonderland.
The ideal candidate will adopt a GLOBE mentality. GLOBE stands for Generously Lending Our Best Efforts. This is done by holding themselves and their teammates accountable for taking our best practices “the last mile” – optimizing them for maximum value to all of our stakeholders while sharing insights on how to improve our company. The ideal candidate will also be a productive and proactive self-starter who is passionate about his/her duties and willing to put forth the extra effort to achieve excellence.
This is a
short-term assignment(s)
for the following dates:
Setup Crew will run October 8th through November 21st Tear Down Crew will run January 5th through January 16
th
HOWEVER, this individual may have opportunity to become a member of the Events Operations Part-time Crew after Speedway Christmas Project ends in 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Involved in the overall setup of Speedway Christmas (Monday through Saturday, 8am-4:30pm) Some 2nd and 3rd shift work hours may be necessary as we move closer opening night of November 21st. Duties such as aerial work, wiring of Christmas light displays, stringing lights, standing up themed displays and other setup duties as assigned Performs visual preventative
maintenance/inspection
on all department equipment to ensure ready for use for that day Assist with the teardown of Speedway Christmas (After New Year’s) Assists other departments when needed and other duties as assigned
MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skills in following safety practices, recognizing hazards, and communicating to management. Skill in using hand and power tools. Knowledge of event operations for a large- scale multi-function event complex a plus Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CMS staff and the customers. Ability to communicate both orally and written in English effectively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves moderate to heavy work outdoors in all types of weather. (heat, cold, rain and snow). There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 18 years old with High School diploma or GED with a valid driver’s license and clear driving record. One (1) year event operations experience in a large event facility a plus.
