Job Title: Assistant Controller Location: Temple, TX Reports To: Director of Finance
Primary duties will include:
Requirements: Financial Management & Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations, and oversee financial reporting processes. Supervise Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and payroll transactions for accuracy and timeliness. Support the budgeting and forecasting process by working with department heads to track expenses and financial performance. Cost Accounting & Analysis: Oversee cost accounting processes, including analyzing variances, inventory valuation, and standard costing. Conduct inventory cost and profitability analysis, identifying areas for improvement. Prepare project cost analysis and forward-looking product cost reports. ((Internal Development Costs - IDC) Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of manufacturing costs. Compliance & Process Improvement: Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements. Prepare tax filings, including State and Federal Sales and Property Taxes, and assist with Franchise and Income Tax returns. Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation. Lead NetSuite ERP implementation, optimization, and maintenance for financial processes. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Other Duties: Assist with banking and regulatory reporting as needed. Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in NetSuite ERP is required. Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. Experience with manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management. Prior experience supporting ERP implementations or financial system upgrades. Familiarity with compliance, tax regulations, and audit preparation. Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree in
accounting, Finance, or a related field . CPA or CMA certification is preferred. Minimum of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in accounting CPA a plus Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience a plus Expert level in Excel use NetSuite experience a plus Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role The essential physical & environmental requirements of the position are: Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. without assistance. Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to hear sounds and differentiate between them. Ability to visually understand distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and have color vision.
