Job Description Salary: $70K - $85K + bonus Bonitz of Georgia is a family-owned company and a trusted name in commercial construction. We are growing and looking for an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of roofing systems and materials, be capable of conducting on-site assessments, and work independently to produce competitive bids. This is a client-facing role that requires strong communication, field expertise, and a commitment to precision and follow-through. Since 1956, Bonitz delivers top-tier work in Commercial Roofing installations, maintenance & repairs of single-ply, standing seam metal, and fluid applied roofing. We operate primarily in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
Key Responsibilities: Perform on-site roof surveys to assess existing conditions, take field measurements, identify potential challenges, and determine scope of work Interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, and project specifications to develop accurate estimates Prepare detailed cost breakdowns including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing Evaluate and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and completeness Develop and submit complete bid packages on time Coordinate with the project management and operations teams to ensure accurate scope transfer and project handoff Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and client meetings as needed Build and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and customers Track and maintain historical cost data to inform future estimates Identify value engineering options and scope clarifications when appropriate
Job Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in commercial roofing estimation Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, built-up, modified bitumen, metal, etc.) Proficiency in construction takeoff software (what software do we use?) and Microsoft Excel Comfortable working independently on job sites and rooftops in varying weather conditions Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and technical documents Exceptional organizational, analytical, and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication; capable of interfacing professionally with clients and internal teams High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or construction management degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 10 or 30 certification Knowledge of local building codes and permitting requirements Experience estimating both re-roof and new construction projects
