Job Description
The Director of Outpatient Billing is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of outpatient billing operations for Trinity Rehab, LLC to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, compliance with payer requirements, and optimal reimbursement. This role will lead a team of billing professionals, implement best practices, and collaborate cross-functionally to support organizational revenue goals. The Director of Outpatient Billing reports to the President and VP of Finance and works integrally with the VP of Operations, Area Directors, and Clinical Specialists to provide additional support.
· Lead, manage, and direct all functions of outpatient billing operations, to include maintaining administrative setup for charge capture, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up.
· Develop and implement billing policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., CMS, HIPAA) and payer guidelines.
· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting dashboards to evaluate billing efficiency and drive continuous process improvements.
· Collaborate with the clinical specialists, the billing team, and IT staff to resolve billing issues and optimize the revenue cycle.
· Oversee the hiring, training, and performance management of billing staff; provide mentorship and career development opportunities.
· Manage contracting and relationships with third-party payers, and clearinghouses, resolving disputes and ensuring appropriate reimbursement.
· Ensure timely and accurate submission of all outpatient claims with minimal denials or rejections.
· Lead initiatives to reduce days in A/R and improve cash collections.
· Participate in annual budgeting and forecast planning for the billing department.
· Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard patient and financial data.
· Stay current on billing regulations, payer policy changes, and healthcare industry trends.

Requirements Experience in Insurance Billing a must/ management experience preferred.
