Job Description Day in the Life
You arrive, review the job layout and project specifications, and plan your make-ready. You dial in the Bobst platen die-cutter or the Heidelberg cylinder press, ensuring the setup matches the run requirements. Before the first full run, you verify tooling, alignments, and safety checks. As production starts, you pull predetermined samples to inspect quality on each load, keeping the run on-spec. You keep the equipment clean, document operating details, and flag maintenance needs. Throughout the shift, you support your supervisor and plant manager with any additional tasks while upholding Snyder’s safety and quality standards. Where You’ll Spend Your Time
~80% : Make-ready and run the die cutter (Bobst platen and Heidelberg cylinder press) to Snyder packaging quality standards, including troubleshooting during production. ~10% : Set up stripping tooling using a pin setting table. ~5% : Complete basic computer data entry and required forms. ~5% : Perform routine cleaning and light maintenance on machinery. What You Bring
Hands-on knowledge of die-cutting equipment operation. Basic shop math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Intermediate English skills for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Basic computer ability (data entry, typing, printing). Comfort with units of measure and reading a ruler accurately. Core Strengths
Mechanical aptitude and comfort with semi-automatic equipment. Keen eye for defects and strong problem-solving skills. Solid understanding of printing, die cutting, and gluing processes. Excellent communication skills. Physical Demands
Manual loading and lifting; climbing as part of normal operation. Repetitive yet varied, active work requiring strength and good eyesight. Operate semi-automatic machinery safely and efficiently. Work Environment
General warehouse setting within a paperboard packaging facility. Work includes reaching, bending, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Documentation & Maintenance
Maintain machine operating and maintenance records. Submit maintenance requests as needed. Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor and plant manager. Always adhere to Snyder’s safety and quality standards.
