The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a Full-Time

Lieutenant

in the Fire & Rescue Department.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Responds to emergency incidents, including fires, hazardous spills, and vehicle collisions. Supervises and assists in fighting structural fires to ensure that appropriate firefighting techniques are used. Helps to provide supervision and to maintain order at fire scenes. Organizes and oversees daily activities of shift personnel. Extricates victims from vehicles at collision sites. Provides on-site emergency medical care. Provides safety and fire suppression training to new employees and continuing education to existing employees. Provides fire safety education to schools and civic groups. Assists in the maintenance of the pre-incident plan, including a list of emergency contacts, floor plans, and utility cutoffs for structures around the city. Prepares incident reports. Supervises firefighters in respect to general custodial and maintenance duties at fire station. Maintains a sufficient level of physical fitness. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred; A minimum of 5 years career/full time experience as a firefighter; IFSAC or NPQ FF II (must obtain Georgia State Firefighter certification within 90 days if not already certified); IFSAC or NPQ Fire Instructor I; IFSAC or NPQ Fire Officer I; NPQ AOPP or equivalent; NREMT or Georgia EMT or higher; NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800; ICS 300 is required to be completed within one year of being promoted/hired; Must possess or obtain a valid Georgia Class F Driver's License or equivalent.
