Chaos
Overview
CHAOS Inc. is a global technology company delivering next-generation capabilities to the defense and critical industrial sectors. Founded in 2022, CHAOS has a mission-focused culture and an agile engineering approach that enables rapid prototyping and real-world solutions through deep partnerships with defense and industry.
Role Overview CHAOS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team supporting product engineering. This is a highly collaborative role in which you will wear multiple hats and work closely with our product. You will have the opportunity to expand your skillset across our product line. A key aspect of this role is leveraging Palantir Foundry as CHAOS\' internal data operating platform—building, maintaining, and optimizing end-to-end workflows and pipelines that manage sensor, operational, and enterprise data across the company. You will work across teams to ensure our data infrastructure and workflows are reliable, scalable, and directly enable mission outcomes. This role will be central to delivering the CHAOS Operating System in Foundry—a unified data backbone that connects engineering, operations, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Design and build Foundry-based pipelines and workflows, enabling ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data for both engineering and operational users
Define major parts of our data and backend architecture, including choice of frameworks and systems
Build and maintain our data infrastructure, real-time data processing, data transportation, and backend services
Collaborate closely with product, system, software, and hardware engineers to integrate data flows into mission workflows
Mentor other engineers as the team grows, and work with engineering leadership to define longer term roadmaps
Work 3+ days per week out of our office in San Francisco (Market Street) or Los Angeles (Hawthorne)
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in professional, object-oriented software development
Experience with Python, SQL data warehouses, and no-SQL systems
Experience building, testing, and supporting major systems in production
Experience building or maintaining data pipelines or workflows in Palantir Foundry or other enterprise data platforms
Preferred Requirements
Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms
Development experience in Defence, especially ground or airborne sensors (Radars, EO/IR, EW, etc.)
Modeling & Simulation, including hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testbeds for algorithm verification
Familiarity with Agile lifecycle processes including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test Driven Development Methodologies
Experience with 2D and 3D Visualization ideally in defense use cases
Experience with additional frameworks such as React
