Director of Mechanical Engineering (HVAC)
As Director of Mechanical Engineering, you will lead our talented team of HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler engineers and designers. You will be responsible for the technical direction and successful execution of all mechanical engineering designs for commercial facilities in San Francisco. As a company heavily focused on design-build projects, this role is crucial in fostering collaboration between engineering and field teams to innovate our means and methods, ensuring the highest level of quality at a competitive price. This position requires a strategic leader who can mentor a team, drive innovation, and provide the highest quality of work.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
Oversee and perform the design and engineering of HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.
Generate pre-construction budgets based on preliminary & schematic designs.
Ensure all designs meet code requirements and client performance requirements/specifications.
Collaborate with clients, project managers, architects, engineers, field installation crews, and other stakeholders.
Develop and implement engineering standards and best practices.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in professional mechanical (primarily HVAC) engineering and design for commercial facilities.
Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams.
Familiar with design-build project delivery, preferably in a tenant improvement and existing building retrofit context
Proficient in CAD and BIM software tools
Must-have Quals
Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in California.
10+ years of work experience as a licensed Mechanical Engineer designing HVAC systems in buildings.
Comfortable working in an on-site setting and commuting to our San Francisco location.
