Position Summary

The Collections Representative is primarily responsible for recovering outstanding balances on behalf of our clients while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and client regulations, as well as ethical and professional standards. This role requires strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to secure payment in full or establish repayment arrangements.

Essential Functions

Handle inbound and outbound calls to negotiate payment terms and methods when the right party is reached. Review account information in the database and ask probing questions to understand and overcome objections to payment. Monitor debtor accounts to ensure timely payments and follow up when necessary. Utilize skip tracing techniques and collection strategies to locate consumers. Collect balances or establish appropriate payment plans. Review accounts for discrepancies, adjustments, and request resolutions as needed. Manage debtor disputes, address objections, and suggest possible payment sources. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment   Work is performed in an enclosed call center environment, primarily using a computer and office equipment. Regular activities include sitting, speaking, typing, and handling office tools. Light lifting may be required. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Non-Essential Functions

Assist in training new collectors as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic computer and math skills. Strong multitasking ability and organizational skills. Competitive, resourceful, and goal-driven mindset. Excellent work ethic, punctuality, and reliable attendance. Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Proficient in navigating multiple computer systems, including CUBs. Knowledge of FDCPA, HIPAA, and state/local collection laws (preferred). Strong listening, verbal communication, and conflict-resolution

Skills:

Ability to handle escalated calls professionally under stress. Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor. Detail-oriented when processing and recording payments.

Special Requirements

Previous experience in collections, customer service, sales, or a related role (preferred). High School Diploma or GED required. Bilingual in Spanish (preferred). Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision. Flexibility to work overtime when required. Ability to quickly learn and communicate client-specific processes. Proven ability to overcome objections and close commitments in a short timeframe.
