The Health Connector is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Data, Reporting & Analytics group, with a focus on development, delivery, and maintenance of dashboards and other reporting capabilities in Tableau. The enhanced Data, Reporting & Analytics group was recently established at the Health Connector, and seeks to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams to improve data quality, streamline delivery of reports and data insights to the organization, and expand the opportunities for data-driven decision-making. This position requires the ability to analyze and interpret data from multiple sources, work with technical and business resources to contextualize meaning, and deliver dashboards and reports that are approachable and valuable for varying audiences both internal and external to the Health Connector. The Data Analyst – Tableau is a new, full-time exempt position who will report to the Director of Data, Reporting & Analytics.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Collaborate with business owners to define key performance metrics and effectively surface them using Tableau.
- Build and maintain a suite of dashboards that support data-driven decision-making within the organization, as well as provide information to external stakeholders and the public as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve data management and data quality within the organization, make recommendations for enhancements, and partner with teams to implement those changes as needed.
- Support ad-hoc report requests from other teams at the Health Connector as assigned.
- Comfortable working independently to manage multiple concurrent projects, establish and meet deadlines, and pivot rapidly in response to changes in organizational priorities.
- Team-oriented and collaborative contributor who listens to, learns from, and teaches colleagues.
- Proactively identifies obstacles as well as opportunities to solve problems and/or improve the team’s approach to reporting.
- Motivated to use data to improve public sector health care programs.
Experience and Qualifications
- Educational and/or professional background in data analytics and reporting, with at least two years’ experience in working directly with business users on requirements and delivery.
Data Analyst (Tableau) - Demonstrated success at creating Tableau dashboards, interpreting large and complex data sets, recommending appropriate visualizations, and building custom calculations and measures.
- Proficiency with relational databases and SQL query writing, with preference given to experience working with AWS Redshift.
- Familiarity with the subsidized health insurance landscape and analyzing membership, financial, and utilization trends.
- An effective communicator who, both verbally and in writing, works with colleagues to build understanding and connections between business and technical concepts.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge and understanding of the Healthcare industry and ACA strongly preferred
- All Health Connector employees are required to provide satisfactory proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- The Health Connector is operating on a hybrid work arrangement with 2 days in the downtown Boston office and 3 days working from home.
- Employee may be requested to work an extended day and weekends to meet deadlines.
