Responsibilities

  • Support the development of initial project execution strategies, logistics plans, and schedules.
  • Prepare accurate, full-scope cost estimates for a variety of commercial, academic, healthcare, and life science projects.
  • Identify, solicit, and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure competitiveness and alignment with project goals.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost analyses from drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Manage the cost comparison process and maintain estimating databases with accurate cost metrics.
  • Conduct research into materials, methods, equipment, and construction techniques to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Assist in the procurement of major materials and subcontracts on successful pursuits.
  • Oversee smooth project transitions by turning over bid documents and sub-buyout information, participating in kick-off meetings, and collaborating with project management and procurement teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term subcontractor relationships; actively seek and qualify new partners.
  • Follow up on bids and budgets with project teams to support project awards and deal closure.

Physical Requirements: Travel to sites across New England may be required. Ability to climb stairs/ladders, navigate active construction areas, and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Exposure to construction environments including equipment, elevated structures, airborne particles, weather, and electrical risks.

Education

  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, or Finance, or equivalent building construction experience (minimum three years).

Minimum Related Prior Experience

  • 3–5 years in estimating, cost analysis, or construction management.

Preferred Special Skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff (or similar) is desirable.
  • Understanding of cost control, risk analysis, and accounting principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; polished, professional presence.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
